Befriending Volunteer - Alzheimer's Society
Volunteer Befrienders support people with dementia in the local community. This may involve visiting someone at home, or going out and about, but the aim is to provide companionship for a person with early stage dementia, helping the individual to take part in social and recreational activities.
The hours are flexible, depending on your time and the needs of the person with dementia that you are befriending. We ask that you are able to offer a couple of hours each week or fortnight and be able to volunteer for a minimum of 9 months to a year to enable continuity
No special qualifications or experience needed. The role may be ideal for you if:
- You know about, or are willing to learn about dementia and its impact on people - You have good, verbal communication skills, especially face to face - You can show empathy, patience, consideration and a caring nature.
Volunteer Holistic and Complimentary Therapist
We are looking to recruit several Volunteer Holistic & Complimentary Therapists to treat a wide range of clients who are referred to our service by local GPs and other voluntary and community groups. The role will entail discussing the client's needs with the client in order for them to make informed choices about the therapies they may receive, and carrying out their chosen therapy in a professional manner.
You will fill in appropriate paperwork for each client in keeping with the current Data Protection Act and ensure confidentiality at all times.
Holistic or complimentary therapy qualification is desirable but not essential as full training will be given. Must be willing to complete a short and flexible on-line Safeguarding Adults module for your personal safety as much as for clients.
For more information about any of these roles, please visit the national volunteering website - www.do-it.org.uk or Telephone Rotherham Volunteer Centre on Tel: 01709 834464. |
