Community Representative - The Brain Tumour Charity

Why do we need your help?

Whilst it is fantastic that so many people raise money for us and want to hear more about is, we simply don't have the capacity to attend all events.  We are looking for confident and enthusiastic people to represent Brain Tumour UK, give speeches, and receives gifts on our behalf.

 What will I have to do?

- You will reactively attend eventswhen required to speak and/ or accept cheques on our behalf or simply represent us. 

We are looking for a volunteer with a personal and friendly, professional manner,  good letter writing/ administration skills who pays attention to detail. 

I.T. and Marketing Volunteer - Spectrum Futures

Spectrum Futures are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer who can help them with some aspects of I.T. and marketing.  It is a great opportunity for someone wanting to gain experience in I.T. and marketing in a small friendly team. 

Previous experience of I.T. and marketing is desirable, but not essential.

Community Sighted Guide Volunteer - Guide Dogs

Do you want to make a difference in your community?  My Guide is an exciting new service which involves teaming a volunteer up with a blind or visually impaired person.  Following training, volunteers then provide guided support to enable the service user to access local community activities and facilities. 

Volunteers need to have;  patience, good social and physical awareness, good verbal communication skills.

Volunteers need to take part in a nationally recognised training course (provided free of charge),  developed by Guide Dogs and endorsed by VISION 2020, the umbrella body for visual impairment.

 National Citizen Service Programme - RUFC Trust

The NCS is a programme for Year 11 & 12 students (or equivalent age). It gives young people the chance to spend some of their holidays undertaking exciting and challenging activities. You will experience a range of outdoor adventure activities including archery, kayaking, caving and gorge walking. You will meet new people and learn new skills, whilst having the opportunity to design a project that will help your community

 You need to be 16/17 years old (born between August 1996 and August 1997)
 - Interested in outdoor adventure
 - Committed to volunteering in the community

VAR Supports SY High Sheriff on her visits to charities in Rotherham

High Sheriff Visit to United Multicultural CentreThe High Sheriff of South Yorkshire, Julie Kenny CBE DL, was keen to see first-hand all the good work that is taking place in the voluntary and community sector in Rotherham, so on the 11th December 2012 Voluntary Action Rotherham (VAR) organised a full day of visits for Julie.

Janet Wheatley, Chief Executive of VAR accompanied Julie on her whistle stop tour which highlighted some important organisations in Rotherham’s voluntary and community sector.

Invitation to Submit Proposals to Develop and Provide Volunteer Opportunities for Older People
Are you interested in submitting proposals to develop and provide volunteer opportunities for people over 65 years old? We are looking for small voluntary and community groups and larger organisations that are able to provide an excellent volunteering experience for an older person/ people.
If required, we can provide a tailored support package to help groups successfully offer volunteer opportunities for older people.
