Rotherham Volunteer Centre Open Day was a hit with local Organisations

Volunteer Centre Day PictureOn Thursday 1st December Rotherham Volunteer Centre welcomed back 12 organisations who it has supported to recruit volunteers in recent months.  Representatives from a diverse range of voluntary and public sector organisations including Rotherham Hospice, Winthrop Park and Yorkshire Ambulance Service were in attendance to gain a ‘behind the scenes’ insight into how the Volunteer Centre supports organisations and groups to find and retain volunteers.

The wide-reaching impact of Rotherham’s Voluntary and Community Sector was recognised at Friday’s eighth annual Community Achievement Awards, where individual and group winners in three categories were announced in an emotional ceremony.

Fit and Proper Person Test

HMRC Fit and Proper Person Test: Currently the test only applies to charities claiming gift aid but it will apply to all charities claiminHM Revenue and Customs Logog other charity tax reliefs in due course.

It applies to those personnel who "claim tax relief or exert control over spending", which probably equates to the trustees and any senior/finance staff.

Trustees’ conference - National Trustee Week 2011
A conference is running locally as part of national Trustees’ Week 2011. It is aimed at trustees and committee members, both new and experienced, from organisations within South Yorkshire, and for senior staff working with trustee boards.The conference will have Gillian Guy, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice, as the keynote speaker.
