Assistant Housing Officer (Maternity Cover) | Arches Housing
Job Description
Arches Housing is a community-based Housing Association providing more than 1,400 affordable homes in Sheffield and Rotherham.
We were formed in 1975 to make old houses into quality homes and to stop the rich and diverse communities of North Sheffield being displaced and broken up. Although we have grown and now serve communities across Sheffield, Rotherham and Chesterfield, we are very proud to still be based in the heart of the community our founders cared about so deeply.
Our culture is unique. We are Investors in People Gold, and according to our latest staff survey, 100% of respondents thought Arches was a great place to work! We take accessibility seriously, and have an agile and flexible way of working and thinking that means we focus on outcomes for residents, and not bums on seats!
Following a refocus of our Operations department we are excited to complete the team so that we can take that next step forward to even better services for our residents.
People thrive when they have a safe, secure home where they can set down roots. It’s a fundamental need that we all share. This role all about building strong relationships with our residents, providing clear advice and support on how to ensure a long and happy time in their home. From a new tenancy beginning, to resolving neighbour disputes and low-level anti-social behaviour, advising on keeping gardens clean, tidy and safe, and on avoiding rent arrears - the Assistant Housing Officers is there to help. They also work closely with our Housing Officers if things should need more complex solutions or support. This is a brand-new role and so you’ll have the chance to influence how it evolves in response to the needs of our residents over time.
About You
You’ll be true people person, dedicated to making sure every interaction with our residents counts and they enjoy a high-quality experience of us. With strong IT and verbal communication skills, and by being highly organised you’ll be an excellent team member. You’ll also have a good appreciation and understanding the diverse needs of our residents, helping you to find the right solutions to make things happen.
As this is a fixed-term role, it’s essential that you have lived or working experience of social housing, and are highly skilled in customer service, IT and Microsoft apps, and are an excellent communicator, working well with others and able to manage your own workload.
For an informal chat about the role please contact our Neighbourhood Manager Michael O’Keefe on: 0114 228 8100.
