About the role:
Roundabout’s Homeless Prevention Service consists of a number of different services working towards preventing young people aged 16-25 from becoming homeless in Sheffield.

The role of the Homeless Prevention Team Leader is to support the Service Manager in overseeing the effective running and contract delivery of all aspects within the Homeless Prevention Service, ensuring that they meet all of their contractual funding obligations and are effective in preventing young people from becoming homelessness. This involves providing line management and regular supervisions to staff, promoting professional development and managing workload.

The role also involves providing housing advice and support to young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness through our drop-in housing advice service. This is a busy service which involves assessing the housing situation of young people and either helping to prevent their homelessness or supporting them in funding suitable accommodation, advocating on their behalf with external agencies when required.

Key Accountabilities:
• To deputise for the Service Manager when required.
• To provide line management to staff members, involving regular supervisions, annual
appraisals and promoting professional development.
• To ensure effective monitoring of service in line with funding requirements and be
involved in writing funding reports.
• Recruit and manage volunteers to support in the running of the services.
• Provide housing advice and support to young people who are homeless or at risk of
homelessness to prevent or relieve their homelessness.
• Interview and assess young people to determine their housing need and advocate on
behalf of young people to ensure they are receiving the correct support.
• To work with other agencies across the city and build strong working relationships in
order to provide the best housing options and support to young people.
• Be flexible in responding to the needs of the service in preventing homelessness.
• Participate in the manager’s on call rota.
• Liaise with other agencies to promote the work of Roundabout, facilitate access to the
services offered and maintain Roundabout’s reputation.

• Be proactive in reviewing and evaluating own performance and use supervision and
appraisals to identify areas for development
• Participate in fundraising events and promote Roundabout externally as required
• Undertake other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the post.

Person Specification
Specific Knowledge, Experience & Skills
- Experience of direct face-to-face work with vulnerable young people, or a similar client
group.
- Working knowledge of Effective Supervision, Appraisal, Staff Development and
Performance Management.
- Understanding of Strength Based Practice and Trauma Informed Care in relation to the
needs of vulnerable service users.
- A proven ability to lead on service delivery for one or more services
- Experience of meeting key funding requirements through effective monitoring and writing
funding reports
- Knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in a housing,
residential/custodial or social care provision.
- A sound working knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation and practice.
- Experience of training and managing volunteers.
